Hah! Lumberjack couture is such a nice look! I love that the hair matches the grizzled and battled tested clothing~Love

I like this a lot, the colours are great.. but as a fencer i have to tell you the sword is ridiculous.  Swords aren't clubs.. they are delicate refined weapons. My personal longsword weights about 2kg which gives you an idea of the weight.  Also a hilt that long just makes it MUCH easier to be disarmed

haha yea i know what you mean! the thing is too big to be swung around properly or used efficiently in battle. this is fantasy art, however so it should have some elements that feel nonsensical to make it look good. i do prefer things to look practical but i find if you ground a design too much in reality it gets kinda boring :P

anyway, if im designing more normal looking swordsman i'll definitely keep what you said in mind :)

I actually feel the sword would be fine with just a longer blade (to be in proportion to the hilt). I'm a swordsman as well, and not all swords are meant to be lighter weapons. Some of them, yes. But not all. Many swords were used to crush armor, or even kill the horses of cavalry soldiers. Greatswords were used to crush opponents with brute strength. Lighter swords are best used for one on one combat, with either light or no armor. Bigger and heavier swords are good for destroying armored opponents.

Quick question, am I missing something or is the tip of his sword made of cloth?

lol i guess i didnt draw it clear enough. it meant it to be broken (so the sword was originally longer) and the tip was reforged cuz a good soldier doesnt go out with broken equipment XD

Your designs look a lot like Guild wars 2 art, which is really amazing by the way. I just love it (specialy this one)!
